Based in Finnish Lapland, I am a photographer and a journalist working in the Arctic since 2016.
My base of operations is in the middle of Lapland at Pyhätunturi, Pelkosenniemi.
My work is centered on reportage, portraits and longer documentary projects. I am of course open to all sorts of different assignments.
I studied photojournalism in the university of Tampere for a while, and ended up as a staff photographer for a regional newspaper Etelä-Saimaa in Eastern Finland. That newspaper was my real school of photojournalism. Working the daily beat, a photographer has to develop a robust quiver of skills.
After more than eight years of living in the Arctic, life in this region intrigues me in a myriad of ways and is a constant source of weird ideas, important stories and longer projects. To me Lapland seems like a fascinating mix of life in modern and more traditional, rural communities.
